Ever have one of those nights?

I am home in St Pete. And quite honestly right now very bored. Not saying the entire day was boring, I had a lot of fun (more on that)...it's just right NOW, I am bored. No one is online, and I think it's honestly too late to try and call anyone just to talk. And people I tried calling earlier, didn't answer their phones. Eh, no idea. Anyways. Being back home has not been bad at all so far. Hung out with a friend Wednesday night when I got in. Thursday had dinner with parents and Randy (movie modeller guy). Had a fun time. Today, went and saw a movie with the parents. Sorry, not Speed Racer...saw something BETTER....IRON MAN....IN DLP!!!!!! Freakin awesome!! Was worth watching a second time. Still laughed at the funny scenes, and still got goosebumps at tense moments, action scenes and the ending credits scene (thankfully could SEE the scene without lights going on). Parents loved it as well. *Note* Stark owns a Wii. Didn't catch it the first time, but it's there under his tv while he is watching the report on the attack of a small middle eastern town while he is working on his glove. Betcha he's a pain to play against in Mario Kart (Stark Enterprises has a hack that makes all drivers drunk...lol)

Tomorrow going to mall with my mom, so she can wander around and get away from the house. Then tomorrow evening is some celebration for my brother and sister in laws 1 year anniversary...jeez time has gone by FAST! Sunday is mother's day and then Monday I will be back in Orlando.

It's just one of those nights I guess. Maybe it's more of I've been with my parents ALL day, and seen and talked to really...no one else. I say hi to peeps on AIM and they either don't respond or say "gotta go!". It's Friday night and I know you all are probably out there having fun.

This isn't some "wah wah I'm lonely/cryptic/looking for sympathy" post. Just really bored. Maybe I'll go draw something or play some PSP or something.

Weekend of fun

This past weekend was really alot of fun.

Friday worked till 4:30 and then pretty much hightailed it to the Expo Center. There was a "Visual Language Gala" held there. The 3 movies of the VL students were shown (this years, last years, and the year before that). The movies were really good! The older ones were re-edited and flowed better, and the recent one was amazing. What was also great was seeing former classmates and friends, and even the graduating class and teachers. Had an amazing time with everyone. After the gala, a couple of us went to TGI Friday's and ate dinner and hung out. Really one of the best nights in a long time. It was really great to see everyone.

Saturday was work again. Followed by hanging out at the house, drinking, playing video games and watching movies/internet stuff. Very fun. Got in the new couches Erich got. They are very nice!

Sunday was a lazy sunday that consisted of MarioKart Wii! Very fun game, outside of how CHEAP the computer players are. The WiiWheel is a bit to get used to.

This week is pretty much working. I know Iron Man is in order to be seen on the weekend. I am hoping for NOT a midnight showing, perhaps maybe a matinee or afternoon showing (cheaper $$). And of course Kevin's infamous Cinco De Mayo party. Which I will end up being late too (closing that night)

Website is almost finished. Gonna go over getting what's finished online very soon.

I rented the disappointing The Golden Compass and something I actually want to see, I'm Not There (the Bob Dylan film where he is played by Cate Blanchett, Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, Richard Gere, and Ben Wishaw).

Got inventory tonight (Wednesday), Thursday off completely. Working open to 4:30 Friday but then going straight from work to go downtown for the VL viewing thing. Saturday opening and off Sunday.

Things coming up that should also be noted: Jarrod is graduating! Mallory's bday soon. And the inevitable I guess is finding out if we'll be able to renew here. Which I am dreading if we are not, and in some small way, if we are (not sure yet of roomate's intentions).

In other good news, my website is FINALLY getting closer to completion. I'm gonna work on it before work tomorrow and Thursday. Huge thanks to Mallory for the help (and continuing help...despite how dumb I feel sometimes with my questions).

Not looking forward to the inventory. Mostly because I found out tonight that my store manager apparently has never done an inventory, and neither has the 2 employees working tonight also.

Needless to say, if I am finding out I won't be home till 8am again....bad things are gonna happen.

3D animated Ghost in the Shell film in the works

"DreamWorks Pictures has acquired rights to the Japanese manga "Ghost in the Shell" with plans to adapt the futuristic police thriller as a 3-D live-action feature, reports Variety.

The story follows the exploits of a member of a covert ops unit of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission that specializes in fighting technology-related crime.

Created by Masamune Shirow, "Ghost in the Shell" was first published in 1989. It went on to generate two additional manga editions, three anime film adaptations, an anime TV series and three video games. The second anime film, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, was released in the U.S. by DreamWorks in 2004.

Avi Arad, Ari Arad and Steven Paul of Seaside Entertainment are attached to produce and brought the project to the studio. Jamie Moss has been hired to write the adaptation.

"'Ghost in the Shell' is one of my favorite stories," Spielberg said. "It's a genre that has arrived, and we enthusiastically welcome it to DreamWorks."

DreamWorks president of production Adam Goodman said "Ghost in the Shell" is a property "that epitomizes 3-D live-action motion picture possibilities."

Sorry, they lost me after "Dreamworks Pictures" and it being animated by them. It'll end up being more focused on who is voicing the characters than the actual story.

UNLESS the movie is more like the series and less like the previous films (the first 2), and the voice cast from that are brought in, THEN and only then will this movie have a chance.

So I did the unthinkable today

I watched "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale". Yep.

Wow, this movie was as expected, BAD. Not Bloodrayne 2 bad, more so bad it's funny. Here are some of the interesting things I saw in the movie:

The cast includes Jason Statham, Leelee Sobieski, Claire Forlani, Ron Perlman, Burt Reynolds, Matthew Lillard, Kristana Loken, Ray Liotta, and John Rys-Davies. How the hell did Boll get all these people!?

Also, about 90% of that list is completely out of place in a movie set in a fantasy/LOTR like world.

Speaking of LOTR, this movie is a huge rip-off of it bigtime! Right down to alot of the same battles.

Burt Reynolds character as the king is ridiculous. And really can't be taken seriously whatsoever.

Statham uses kung fu fighting.

Jeremy Irons role in D&D is no longer the worst ever. That honor now goes to Ray Liotta and Matthew Lillard (who has an accent that appears and reappears)

At one point in the movie, before a battle starts, Burt orders the NINJAS to come in. I freaking kid you not, about 8 ninjas drop down in front of his army to help fight off the enemy army.

Fighting choreography worse than any seen on Xena.

Oh! The battles? Most are about 4 shots repeated over and over.

During the final battle between Statham and Liotta...Liotta beats Statham with books..literally, he holds him to the ground with 4 books.

My favorite scene involves Kristana Loken swinging a rope, somehow managing to throw it across a Grand Canyon sized mountain range, having the end of the rope attach to a far off mountain. And some how swing off the cliff with Statham, as they swing across the mountainous range, Statham lets go, and is flung across to another mountain, and Loken manages to land on the same cliff she swung from originally.

I will give this movie ONE, and ONLY one redeeming quality, and that was Leelee Sobieski looked amazing.

Seriously, I wished I could have watched this with a group of you all. I guess we can make it up with the acclaimed.....Postal!

So we all know that Kurt Wimmer is doing the Metal Gear Solid movie. Which I am hoping it will be good. Well, they've revealed the FIRST casting in the film!!!!!!

It's a bit of a spoiler so it's under the cut. I like the direction the film is going already!

Revolver Ocelot is being played by.....

Stan Lee!!!!!

He has already trained and become quite the expert in gun twirling. And will even attempt to sneak in an "Excelsior!" during his fight scene with Solid Snake and Cyborg Ninja!

Awesome night of awesome movies. God of Cookery was epic, Versus was fun as usual, Battle Baseball was made more sense than Casshern, and Wind & Cloud was well....yeah...

Thanks to Joe for the movies, and Jarrod/Erich for the really good food. It was great to see all the people who showed up: Albert, Jess, Momo, Mike, DOS, Joe, Joe's roomate. Thanks to all. Christine, you would have loved tonight!

I really had an awesome time last night even after everyone left when we finished Wind & Cloud at it's stunning "conclusion". Just sitting there having (and I'm sure this is a RARITY elsewhere) an intellectual conversation with those that were still here and roomates. Sure, I didn't say much, but just listening was entertaining enough to warrant another hour or so of staying up.

All in all. I had a great time tonight and saw some really bizarre and silly movies (Stephen Chow's God of Cookery was amazing and I am shocked as to why it has never been released Stateside)

I just need some sleep. Tom, if you read this I am off monday, wednesday, and thursday...let me know if you need help with Bee Girl.

Onimusha movie delayed?!

From AICN:

Onimusha is postponed for a long time. Which is really sad because the shooting was about to begin in June in China. The pre-production was over : 3D previz, storyboards, casting, sfx preparation, locations, stage designs... The casting was about to be revealed : Takeshi Kaneshiro, of course, but also Tsuyoshi Ihara (Letters from Iwo Jima), Satomi Ishihara and Emilie de Ravin (Claire in Lost).

The film was ready to shoot. So, what happened ?

Believe it or not, the first reason is linked to the tragic death of Heath Ledger on January 22th. Like everybody knows, Ledger was working on the new Terry Gilliam movie, which is produced by independent french producer Samuel Hadida (Resident Evil, Domino, Silent Hill, The Perfume, True Romance... and Onimusha !). The shooting of Dr Parnassus was stopped which forced Hadida to push back Onimusha a first time. But very soon the schedule of Takeshi Kaneshiro didn't matched anymore with the new shooting dates of Onimusha, because - as many asian actors - he shoots as many movies he can each year... and so was for the japanese cast of the movie. It was maybe possible to find another solution, another shooting dates for all the asian actors and Emily de Ravin, but there was still a problem for the casting of the second leading part of the movie, Jacob, which was american : the upcoming actors strike in June which is still not resolved !

All those problems put together leaded to one choice : Onimusha's shooting is postponed to an unknown date.

Now what about Christophe Gans ? He's not the type of guy doing nothing between projects and his work on Onimusha is over until there's new shooting dates. He's still not involved in Silent Hill 2 as a director (we shall hear about this movie very soon...). We just learned he's moving on a new project, a european one this time (Onimusha is part financed by Hollywood - like Silent Hill), produced by Thomas Langman (Renegade, Astérix) and shot in French language. It's the adaptation of Leo Perutz famous book "The Swedish Cavalier", which tell the story in the 16th century in middle Europe of a thief trying to steal the girl and the fortune of a gentleman... with the help of the Devil himself!!!

It's a very thrilling story, the book is known as a masterpiece of suspense. It's action, adventure style... It's very close to what Christophe Gans like. With a little exaggeration from myself, it feels like Brotherhood of the Wolves meets Silent Hill. The preproduction is just about to begin. This movie being shot most entirely under snow, the shooting will take place this winter 2008/2009. We can imagine the release in France (and maybe internationaly) around the end of 2009. So we can imagine Onimusha won't be shot until the beginning of 2010 and released before 2011.... in the best case !

DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT!
