So I did the unthinkable today
I watched "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale". Yep.
Wow, this movie was as expected, BAD. Not Bloodrayne 2 bad, more so bad it's funny. Here are some of the interesting things I saw in the movie:
The cast includes Jason Statham, Leelee Sobieski, Claire Forlani, Ron Perlman, Burt Reynolds, Matthew Lillard, Kristana Loken, Ray Liotta, and John Rys-Davies. How the hell did Boll get all these people!?
Also, about 90% of that list is completely out of place in a movie set in a fantasy/LOTR like world.
Speaking of LOTR, this movie is a huge rip-off of it bigtime! Right down to alot of the same battles.
Burt Reynolds character as the king is ridiculous. And really can't be taken seriously whatsoever.
Statham uses kung fu fighting.
Jeremy Irons role in D&D is no longer the worst ever. That honor now goes to Ray Liotta and Matthew Lillard (who has an accent that appears and reappears)
At one point in the movie, before a battle starts, Burt orders the NINJAS to come in. I freaking kid you not, about 8 ninjas drop down in front of his army to help fight off the enemy army.
Fighting choreography worse than any seen on Xena.
Oh! The battles? Most are about 4 shots repeated over and over.
During the final battle between Statham and Liotta...Liotta beats Statham with books..literally, he holds him to the ground with 4 books.
My favorite scene involves Kristana Loken swinging a rope, somehow managing to throw it across a Grand Canyon sized mountain range, having the end of the rope attach to a far off mountain. And some how swing off the cliff with Statham, as they swing across the mountainous range, Statham lets go, and is flung across to another mountain, and Loken manages to land on the same cliff she swung from originally.
I will give this movie ONE, and ONLY one redeeming quality, and that was Leelee Sobieski looked amazing.
Seriously, I wished I could have watched this with a group of you all. I guess we can make it up with the acclaimed.....Postal!
